Delhi MBBS admission 2026: current status

Delhi MBBS admission is not one simple state portal. MCC conducts counselling for All India Quota, AIIMS, central-university and other designated seats, including the DU-linked MBBS/BDS counselling described by the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMSC). Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) separately publishes admissions information and institutional requirements for its programmes.

FMSC's official website now displays the 2026–27 undergraduate information bulletin, a CW-category notice, Educational Concession Certificate format, EWS format, school-principal certificate and surety bond. Candidates seeking DU's 85% Delhi quota should read these documents in addition to MCC instructions.

NMC's 2026–27 matrix confirms regulatory intake, but the MCC round matrix determines the selectable seats/categories. Never create a Delhi quota count by multiplying every college's NMC intake by 85%; institutional/central rules differ.

Delhi MBBS counselling routes

The same city can contain AIQ, central-university, Delhi quota, institutional/defence, ESIC IP and deemed categories. Select the exact row, not merely the college name.

Delhi quota and schooling eligibility

For DU-linked 85% Delhi quota, FMSC's bulletin and school-principal certificate control the schooling requirement. Candidates should verify whether the required qualifying classes were completed from a recognised school located within the National Capital Territory of Delhi and provide the exact certificate requested.

Delhi residence alone should not be treated as proof of DU quota eligibility; schooling and institutional clauses matter. Conversely, candidates without Delhi eligibility can still compete for applicable AIQ, AIIMS, central or deemed rows through MCC.

GGSIPU/ACMS eligibility can be different. ACMS has defence-priority conditions, while other IPU institutions may use Delhi-region schooling and category provisions. Read the exact 2026 programme section rather than applying DU rules to IPU.

SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD and CW claims require the authority's current format, issuing authority and validity. Delhi OBC requirements can differ from a central OBC-NCL certificate used for AIQ.

CW category verification

FMSC maintains a separate process for the Children/Widows of eligible Armed Forces personnel (CW) concession under the 85% Delhi quota and has published a 2026 notice plus prescribed Educational Concession Certificate. Delhi medical colleges and 2026 matrix checks

NMC's 2025–26 matrix included AIIMS New Delhi, Army College of Medical Sciences, ABVIMS/RML, Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College, Lady Hardinge, Maulana Azad, North DMC Medical College, UCMS, VMMC/Safdarjung and the then-new ESIC Medical College Basaidarapur, among others. The 2026 NMC matrix is now available and must be checked for current intake/status.

Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research had a court-related matrix issue in a tentative 2025 NMC document, demonstrating why candidates must use the final current matrix rather than an old college list. Verify whether the 2026 MCC deemed row actually contains selectable seats.

Lady Hardinge has historically been a women-only institution for MBBS; confirm the current matrix gender restriction. ACMS eligibility is not general open admission merely because it appears in Delhi.

Delhi MBBS cutoff 2026

The valid cutoff is the closing All India Rank in an official MCC result for one college, quota, category and round. Delhi MBBS is highly competitive, but no single marks number can represent AIIMS, DU quota, AIQ, CW, IPU/defence, ESIC or deemed seats.

Compare AIR, not marks, across years because marks-to-rank changes. Match quota and category exactly: DU 85% open is not AIQ open; CW priorities are not general; deemed and ESIC IP are separate.

Choice bands

• Aspirational: rank is weaker than comparable official closing ranks.
• Competitive: rank sits near multiple comparable results.
• Relatively safer: rank is stronger than comparable evidence, never guaranteed.

Use the final/revised result for the same round. Vacancy and resignation rules can cause later-round movement.

Delhi MBBS fees and surety bonds

Fees vary widely: government/central colleges, IPU institutions, ACMS and deemed HIMSR cannot be treated as one price. Use the exact 2026 institution reporting notice after allotment.

FMSC's DU bulletin requires a ₹3 lakh surety bond with two sureties at provisional admission. Its terms cover surrender in violation of MCC rules, leaving before completion and cancellation/termination for specified reasons. Budget and bond audit

Government tuition may be modest while Delhi accommodation, transport and deposits remain significant. Hostel is not guaranteed merely because a seat is allotted. Calculate annual academic charges, hostel/mess or rent, travel, books, equipment and personal costs.

Read MCC forfeiture, FMSC surety and IPU/institution service bonds separately. Ask what happens after non-reporting, resignation, discontinuation or failure to serve. Preserve signed copies and payment receipts. Do not rely on a verbal claim that a bond is never enforced.

How to build a Delhi choice list

First exclude rows for which schooling, gender, CW, defence, ESIC or NRI eligibility is absent. Then compare the remaining colleges by complete cost, comparable official ranks, NMC status, hospital activity, clinical group size, hostel and bond.

Keep AIQ and DU quota rows separately even for the same college. Rank genuine preference, not assumed probability. Adding an ineligible row does not improve chances and can create reporting confusion.

Add the exact campus address because similarly branded colleges and hospitals can appear across Delhi NCR.

When comparing clinical training, use dated OPD, IPD, bed occupancy, emergency, deliveries and surgery data together with undergraduate intake and teaching units. Visit on a normal working day where possible and ask students about actual bedside group size, supervised examination and internship rotation. A famous hospital name or high total bed count does not by itself establish individual access.

Final action plan

Map every target college to the correct authority, read FMSC/IPU 2026 documents, register with MCC where required, complete separate category verification, compare live matrix rows, prepare bonds and report only on an official allotment.
