J R Medical College: verified identity and location
J R Medical College and Hospital is at Avanampattu, Kiledaiyalam Village, Tindivanam Taluk, Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu 604302, on the Chennai–Trichy Highway. Its official website states that it is affiliated to Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER), a deemed-to-be university.
The college received permission to begin with 150 MBBS seats for 2024-25. It is therefore a new medical college with only two admitted cohorts by the end of the 2025-26 cycle. It cannot yet have an MBBS graduating batch, completed internship history or multi-year university-result record.
Do not confuse this institution with similarly named colleges or with BIHER's other medical colleges. Match “J R Medical College And Hospital, Villupuram” and its exact MCC institute code before choosing or paying.
J R Medical College MBBS admission route 2026
MBBS allotment is through MCC's central deemed-university counselling. The college's official 2025-26 schedule and joining instructions explicitly direct candidates to MCC. Tamil Nadu state counselling is not the route for this deemed-university seat row.
- Qualify NEET UG 2026 and save the NTA scorecard, admit card and All India Rank.
- Read MCC's 2026 UG bulletin, deemed rules and round schedule.
- Register on the official MCC portal and pay the applicable registration/security amount.
- Open the live matrix and match J R Medical College, code, quota and Villupuram location.
- Download the current college fee, hostel, refund, bond and reporting instructions.
- Compare full cost, clinical evidence and new-college risk before ordering choices.
- If allotted, download the MCC letter and report within its deadline with originals.
- Understand upgradation, resignation and forfeiture before the next round.
No agent or college form can replace an MCC allotment. “Direct MBBS,” donation and seat-booking claims are unsafe.
J R Medical College MBBS seats: 150 or 200?
The correct historical sequence is clear. NMC approved the new college for 150 seats in 2024-25. The college's approval page then published a letter for an increase from 150 to 200, and NMC's final national matrix dated 29 October 2025 records 200 seats for 2025-26.
| Academic year/evidence | Recorded intake | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| NMC permission, 2024-25 | 150 | Establishment-year evidence |
| NMC final matrix, 2025-26 | 200 | Latest completed official intake evidence |
| NMC permission, 2026-27 | Check when current | Regulatory authority for new cycle |
| MCC live 2026 matrix | Quota/round specific | Final selectable vacancy |
The old page statement that MCC 2025 showed only 150 was stale. However, 200 sanctioned seats in 2025-26 do not mean 200 seats will remain available in every 2026 round. MCC may split paid and NRI rows, and vacancy changes after reporting or conversion.
Eligibility and NRI category
Candidates must meet the NEET UG 2026 age, nationality/OCI and qualifying-examination requirements, including the prescribed study of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English. The official 2025-26 college schedule also required NEET eligibility under NMC norms.
Ordinary deemed paid seats are generally open on an all-India basis; Tamil Nadu domicile is not the deciding requirement for that MCC row. If an NRI row is displayed, the candidate must satisfy MCC's current NRI/NRI-sponsored rules and produce original sponsor passport/visa, relationship, affidavit and embassy/consulate evidence in the prescribed form.
An MCC allotment remains provisional until eligibility and originals are verified. Never obtain fabricated sponsor documentation.
J R Medical College MBBS fees: official evidence
The college's official 2025-26 MBBS schedule stated annual tuition of ₹26,00,000 for 4.5 years. It also listed ₹10,000 university registration, ₹10,000 admission fee, ₹50,000 refundable college caution deposit, ₹75,000 annual twin-sharing hostel room rent, ₹50,000 refundable hostel caution deposit and mess at approximately ₹5,000–₹6,000 per month.
These are useful historical official figures, not a confirmed 2026-27 demand. The fee document still displayed a 150-seat intake while NMC later approved 200 for 2025-26, showing why every field must be checked against the newest dated notice.
| Official 2025-26 head | Published amount | 2026 action |
|---|---|---|
| Annual tuition | ₹26,00,000 for 4.5 years | Obtain 2026 schedule |
| Registration | ₹10,000 once | Confirm current |
| Admission fee | ₹10,000 once | Confirm current |
| College caution | ₹50,000 refundable, subject to deductions | Read refund clause |
| Hostel room | ₹75,000/year, twin sharing | Check compulsory status/revision |
| Hostel caution | ₹50,000 refundable, subject to deductions | Confirm conditions |
| Mess | ₹5,000–₹6,000/month, dividing system | Budget actual usage |
At the published tuition rate alone, 4.5 years would total ₹1.17 crore, before hostel, mess and other charges. This multiplication illustrates exposure from the 2025-26 schedule; it is not a 2026 quotation. Build a year-by-year cash-flow using the new notice.
Refund and discontinuation risk
The official 2025-26 joining instructions said an MCC-upgraded candidate would receive the collected tuition after a ₹20,000 deduction. For cases where a vacated seat could not be filled, the instructions stated that the entire fee paid could be deducted and the candidate could additionally be required to remit the remaining three years' course fee.
This is a major liability and must be reread in the exact 2026 undertaking. MCC's security forfeiture and the college's fee/bond claim are separate risks. Ask in writing what happens on Round-2 upgradation, permitted resignation, resignation after the cut-off, eligibility failure and mid-course discontinuation.
Do not rely on a verbal promise of a refund. Save the MCC bulletin, fee schedule, signed undertaking, UTR and itemised receipt.
Payment and reporting safety
The previous official instructions preferred RTGS/NEFT and also accepted a demand draft drawn in favour of J R Medical College and Hospital, payable at Chennai; cash and cheques were not accepted. Bank accounts and payment modes can change, so use only the new instructions after allotment.
Confirm the beneficiary through contact details on the official domain. Do not pay a personal account, consultant or unofficial QR code. Obtain receipts for tuition and every other head, plus an acknowledgement for deposited originals.
J R Medical College cutoff 2026
The reliable cutoff is MCC's closing NEET All India Rank for the exact J R Medical College quota and round in the final or revised 2026 result. No final 2026 college cutoff exists before allotment results. The NEET qualifying percentile is only the entry threshold for counselling.
Compare AIR rather than marks because marks-to-rank distribution changes annually. Keep ordinary deemed paid, NRI and converted seats separate. Do not combine Round 1 with stray-vacancy results.
- Aspirational: AIR is weaker than multiple matching official historical closings.
- Competitive: AIR overlaps comparable quota/round evidence.
- Relatively safer: AIR is stronger than several matching closings, never guaranteed.
J R is new and its intake increased to 200 in its second year. Awareness, fee and seat supply can create unusual early cutoff movement. One past closing rank cannot predict 2026.
Clinical exposure: current published evidence
The college's current clinical-material webpage reports daily averages over the preceding 12 months of 705 OPD visits, 43 casualty visits, 42 admissions, 40 discharges and 251 occupied beds out of 330 required beds, or 76.10% occupancy. It also lists nine major and 24 minor operations per day, plus approximately one normal delivery and one caesarean section.
Its unit-wise page lists 330 beds across 16 units: 78 medicine, 24 paediatrics, 10 respiratory medicine, 10 psychiatry, 10 dermatology, 78 surgery, 25 orthopaedics, 10 ophthalmology, 10 ENT, 45 OBG and 30 emergency beds.
An older downloadable clinical-material PDF reported higher daily averages—1,232 OPD, 509 occupied of 605 beds and 84.1% occupancy. The difference may reflect different dates or capacity stages. Do not cherry-pick the larger number. Ask the college to date both disclosures and explain the current denominator.
Why the 200-seat increase matters
Patient volume must be judged per learner and teaching unit, not as a campus total. With 200 students per new batch, more cohorts will share wards as the college matures. Ask how beds, units, faculty and internship posts scale with the increased intake.
Campus visit questions
- Which clinical-material disclosure is current, and what is its exact measurement period?
- How many occupied beds were present yesterday in major departments?
- How many students attend each bedside unit and OPD clinic?
- Are faculty and senior residents full-time and visible in AEBAS?
- Where will the first 2024 batch complete every internship rotation?
- What stipend policy will apply, and is it documented?
- How are emergency, labour-room and operating-theatre opportunities assigned?
Academic maturity and regulatory checks
NMC's 2024 permission noted adequate clinical material and sufficient faculty at assessment. That decision established the college for 150 seats subject to stated conditions; it does not permanently guarantee later compliance. The subsequent 2025-26 increase to 200 is positive regulatory evidence, but 2026-27 still requires current confirmation.
Because the first batch began in 2024, no student has yet completed the full MBBS and internship pathway. Ask for attendance, internal-assessment practices, university examination planning, cadaver availability, skills-lab schedules, library hours and mentoring systems. Check the published faculty list and daily AEBAS rather than relying only on sanctioned posts.
BIHER's institutional reputation or another constituent college's results cannot substitute for J R's own evidence.
How to compare J R with an established deemed college
Use a common scorecard: current NMC permission, clinical workload per student, faculty continuity, teaching units, internship plan, full-course cost, refund/bond liability, hostel and travel. Give more weight to clinical and financial evidence than to buildings or advertising.
A new college may have modern facilities and responsive administration, but it lacks alumni and completed-batch evidence. An older college may have mature systems, yet still needs current patient-load and fee verification. Visit both on normal weekdays and speak with students without admissions staff present.
Do not treat a high fee as proof of quality or a lower cutoff as proof of poor training. Choose only an option the candidate can afford and would genuinely join.
J R Medical College reporting documents
The 2025-26 official instructions required originals, one photocopy set and soft copies. The list included the MCC allotment letter, NEET score statement and hall ticket; Class 12, 11 and 10 marksheets; transfer and conduct certificates; community certificate where applicable; and migration certificate where necessary.
For 2026, prepare:
- MCC registration/payment record and provisional allotment letter.
- NEET UG 2026 scorecard and admit card.
- Class 10, 11 and 12 records as prescribed.
- Transfer, conduct and migration certificates.
- Government ID, photographs and medical fitness certificate.
- Category/PwBD certificates in the required format.
- NRI sponsor passport/visa, relationship, affidavit and embassy evidence for an NRI row.
- College admission form, anti-ragging undertakings and discontinuation documents.
- Fee transfer/DD evidence and hostel forms.
- Signed acknowledgement listing every original deposited.
The live 2026 joining notice controls exact format, copies and additional documents.
Common mistakes
- Repeating the stale 150-seat figure after NMC approved 200 for 2025-26.
- Treating 200 as guaranteed before the 2026 NMC/MCC matrix.
- Using Tamil Nadu counselling instead of MCC deemed counselling.
- Presenting the ₹26 lakh 2025-26 tuition as confirmed for 2026.
- Ignoring the remaining-course-fee discontinuation risk.
- Comparing marks instead of quota-wise closing AIR.
- Quoting the older 605-bed dataset as automatically current.
- Ignoring the absence of a graduated batch.
- Paying an agent or personal account.
- Reporting without originals or payment proof.
